What reliable means for uniforms

For a fashion buyer, reliable means one good shipment. For a uniform buyer, it means the hundredth shipment matches the first: the same garment, the same colour, the same logo in the same position, on every re-order, for staff who join two years after the original run.

That is repeatability, and it is a process property rather than a promise. It comes from a factory that keeps sealed samples, retains patterns and embroidery files, approves lab dips before dyeing bulk fabric, and measures production against a fixed standard instead of against the last shipment. When you evaluate manufacturers, look for evidence of that process — not for the lowest quote or the longest capability list.

The checks that actually verify a factory

Red flags when shortlisting manufacturers

• Vague MOQ answers. A factory that will not state its minimum per style until after you commit is leaving room to move the number later. Ours is stated plainly: 100 pcs per style, sizes mixed freely within a style, with per-colour minimums where a colourway needs its own fabric lot.
• No verifiable registration. Refusal to share the registered entity name, or an invoice beneficiary that does not match it, usually means you are talking to a middleman.
• A price before seeing your artwork or fabric direction. A real quotation needs the style list, quantities, logo artwork and fabric choice; a number quoted without them is a hook, not a price.
• Everything is possible. A factory with no stated limits has not thought about its limits. We state ours openly: we do not make EN ISO 20471 hi-vis, flame-retardant, arc-flash or other PPE-rated garments — if your programme needs certified protective clothing, you need a different factory.

Questions to ask before requesting a quote

1. What is your MOQ per style, and how do colours and sizes count inside it?
2. Who is the registered legal entity, and will invoices and payment go to that same entity?
3. What does bulk production get measured against — and where is that standard kept?
4. Can I see the factory live before paying anything?
5. What are the sampling and bulk lead times, and what moves them? (Ours: sampling typically 7–15 days once fabric, logo and fit are agreed; bulk typically 25–30 days after sample approval.)
6. What do you not make?

The answers matter less than the willingness to answer. A reliable factory treats these questions as routine, because buyers who ask them become long-term clients.
