Custom Polo Shirts with Logo

A custom polo shirt with a logo is the working answer to business casual: smarter than a T-shirt, easier to launder than a dress shirt, forgiving to staff who move between desk and floor. Getting it right is mostly about cloth weight, collar build and an embroidery file digitised for piqué rather than for a flat weave.

Plenty of offices have quietly abandoned the shirt and kept the brand. A custom polo with a logo carries the mark as well as any woven shirt, survives home laundering without complaint, and does not ask staff to iron. What it asks of the factory instead is judgement about knit fabric and collar construction.

Choosing the piqué

Piqué weight decides how the polo lives. Lighter knits drape well but show through in pale colours and let collars flop; heavier knits hold a collar and hide wear but run warm at a desk in summer. Polycotton piqué tolerates aggressive laundering and holds colour; cotton-rich reads and feels more premium and shrinks more. The swatch decision should be made with the laundry reality of your staff in mind, and the piqué guide walks through the weights.

The collar is the garment

A polo is judged at the collar. A flat-knit rib with enough yarn weight stands and stays stood; a weak collar curls by the fifth wash and the shirt is retired early. Placket reinforcement matters for the same reason — it is the difference between a front that lies flat and one that ripples. Both are construction choices fixed on the sample, and both are checked on a washed garment before bulk.

Embroidery on a textured knit

Piqué is not a flat weave, and a logo file digitised for poplin will sink into it. Underlay, density and pull compensation are set for the knit, and the strike-off is sewn on the actual fabric so you approve what the texture does to your artwork — fine lines and small text in particular. Logos with gradients or photographic detail move to DTF on polos; that trade-off is covered under logo embroidery and printing.

Polos and tees on a retail floor

Retail teams ask the same question with a second garment in it: polo or T-shirt? Follow the customer expectation — considered purchases and older demographics expect a collar, while informal formats can carry a tee. Many retailers run both, polos on the floor and tees for campaigns, dyed to the same reference so they read as one brand. Decoration differs between them: embroidery is the polo’s natural partner, while tees take print better because jersey is flat. Where the floor wants both, we quote them together and plan the dyeing as one job.

Ordering for a mixed team

Men’s and women’s polos share artwork, colours and collar construction but are graded from separate blocks. Send the headcount by gender, the logo file and your colour references, and we will return fabric options with a sampling plan for both blocks.

One decision worth making early is the colour count. Polos live close to the skin and show fading faster than woven shirts, so a programme of two or three well-chosen colours, lab-dipped and re-ordered against the retained standard, will outlast a rainbow of shades chosen to please every department.

§ 03FAQ

Custom Polo Shirts with Logo — questions buyers ask

Frequently asked4 Q

Does embroidery sit well on piqué?

Yes, provided the file is digitised for it. Piqué's texture swallows fine detail and needs proper underlay so stitches sit on the surface rather than sinking in. We sew the strike-off on the actual piqué and adjust density before you approve.

Will the collar curl after repeated washing?

Collar curl is a construction problem, not an inevitability. A flat-knit rib collar with adequate yarn weight, plus a reinforced placket, holds shape through domestic laundering. The sample polo is wash-tested before bulk precisely so you see this.

Can one polo design work for men and women?

The design can; the block should not. Women's polos are graded from a women's block with different shoulder, bust and length proportions. The artwork, colours and collar construction stay common, so the pair reads as one garment.

When is a polo the wrong choice?

Where the dress code is genuinely formal — client meetings under tailoring, front-of-house at a premium address — a polo reads underdressed. Many programmes solve this by issuing both: polos for the working week, and a poplin shirt from the same range for formal days.
