The waistband is the comfort feature

Housekeeping staff put a pair of pants on at six in the morning and are still wearing them eight hours and fifteen rooms later. A full elastic waist accommodates that whole day, and the size fluctuations of a real workforce, without a complaint. Where a neater line is wanted under a hip-length tunic, back elastic with a flat front gives most of the comfort with a smarter profile. Both are standard constructions for us, and both can carry an internal drawstring where wearers want the belt-and-braces option. The chosen waistband is stated on the sealed sample, so a re-order repeats the construction exactly.

Stretch cloth for knee work

For crews who kneel on bathroom floors all shift, a polyester-spandex or stretch twill trouser removes the binding at knee and seat that a rigid twill cannot. The construction is the same one used across the wider stretch work pants trade — a modest stretch content, enough to move, not enough to bag at the knee by lunchtime. The trade-off is that stretch blends behave differently through hot washing, which is why the stretch sample is wash-tested before sealing and the size chart is set from the washed garment. Where structure matters more than give — public-area trousers under a smart tunic, for instance — standard mid-weight twill remains the better answer, and we will say so.

Fit, length and size range

Housekeeping pants are graded XS to 5XL on women’s, men’s and unisex blocks separately; a woman’s stretch trouser is not a scaled-down unisex pattern. Every leg ships with a 4 cm hem allowance, because no single inseam survives contact with a real workforce. Where a team spans a wide age range, we recommend fitting the trouser on the most junior and the most experienced wearer alike — a waistband that works for a twenty-year-old is not proof it works for everyone. Side pockets come as standard, with a phone or key pocket added per role and bar-tacked like every other corner. Programmes that need to go further into plus sizes are covered under extended sizes.
